der wahl-new-yorker chrome sparks veröffentlicht vielseitiges debütalbum auf counter records! chrome sparks (aka jeremy malvin) weiß, wie er seine tracks im besten licht stehen lässt. sein selbstbetiteltes debütalbum, das via counter records (ein ninja tune-sublabel) erscheint, sticht heraus mit einem funkelnden sound: eine euphonie aus hiphop, house und hell leuchtender arbeit am synthesizer. die platte ist das endergebnis jahrelanger arbeit in malvin’s marinewerft (seinem studio in brooklyn) und einer abgelegen hütte nördlich von new york. allein dort hat er einen ganzen monat allein zugebracht, um den ablenkungen der stadt zu entkommen und um diesen prozess zu destillieren, was anschließend zu einer periode intensiver kreativität wurde. auf dem album selbst finden sich zusammenarbeiten mit dem australischen duo kllo (ghostly) und body languages’ angelica bess (die auch bereits mit machinedrum kollaborierte). das album ist sowohl ergebnis eines obsessiven produktionsansatzes als auch über die rastlose jagd nach neuen ideen. sein kreative mentalität wurde sowohl durch live-auftritte als auch studiogegniedel geprägt. sie ist das grundgerüst, das es ihm erlaubte, so viele diffuse ideen wirklichkeit werden zu lassen, die schlussendlich in einem hervorstechenden und vielfältigen debütalbum resultieren.

heads may not know it, but olmos (real name oliver graham) has been one of the busiest influencers on australia’s underground music culture this side of the 90s. through family-run operation paradise loft records, he has quietly imported thousands of dead stock disco, boogie and early house records into crates across the country affording tastemakers a slice of digging culture only a trip to nyc would previously have allowed.

jungle/breakcore legends deformer are back with another horror infused release: “the living dead deformed”. deformer is known for putting the shock into electronic music and pushing the horror experience to another level. during their shows they cut off limbs and intestines are thrown into the audience while the extreme music turns the crowd into raging freaks. “the living dead deformed” pays hommage to one of the biggest horrorfilm classics of all time: “night of the living dead” (1968) and its creators.
the record was produced before the unfortunate passing of george a. romero. out of respect, deformer chose put out the record as a non-profit, limited edition, numbered by hand, green coloured vinyl release. the amazing cover art is created by legendary visual artist graham humphreys (a nightmare on elm street, the evil dead, poltergeist).
“the living dead deformed” is dark, menacing and will again turn parties into moshpits. they won’t stay deaf!
